Two of the very best weeks on Forest of Birse on river Dee available, May 3rd to 8th and May 10th to 15th
4 rods on each week.
LOCATION:
The fishings are located half a mile south of Aboyne which is 35 miles west of Aberdeen.
ACCOMMODATION:
There is a wide choice of good hotels in Aboyne and the surrounding district and recommendations will be made on request.
FISHINGS:
The Aberdeenshire Dee is amongst the most famous Scottish salmon rivers and the Birse Water is one of the best known upper middle beats. The Season will open on 1st February, 2010 and closes on 15th October, 2010.
The beat extends to 32 miles on the south (right) bank of the river downstream from the Altdinnie Pool which is immediately above Aboyne Bridge. There are 15 named Pools:-
Altdinnie; Bridge; Lower Bridge Jetty; Red Rock; Irrigation; Lummels; Red Brae;
Belwade; Cowdray Pool; Quithel; Trees; Island; McKidd’s; March.
All Pools are easily fished from the bank or by wading. Certain deep Pools and those with boulder beds must, however, be fished from the bank. For the last few seasons the March Pool has been fished on alternate days for up to two rods at a time and by agreement with the opposite bank. It is expected that this arrangement will continue in 2010.
Fishing is always available at any height or condition of the water unless the river is frozen. The beat will be fished by up to four rods who will rotate between the various Pools and have an equal chance, irrespective of prevailing water conditions. The Estate reserves the right to let or fish one or more additional rods should this be justified by the condition of the water. The services of one Ghillie will be available to up to four fishers. The Ghillie will work between 9.00a.m. and 5.00p.m.only Monday to Saturday. Personal ghillying requirements in addition to the above entitlement will be subject to an extra charge.
A main fishing hut and two shelters are available for the use of fishers. They are readily accessible by car as are most of the Pools. The principal fishing hut is substantially built with stove, gas lighting, rod racks, WC and telephone (013398 86413). There is a separate
Ghillies room.

22 May 2013 Blanda is the river that kicks of the summer every year for many anglers in Iceland as it opens the 5th of June. It is one of Iceland´s longest and most powerful rivers and is known for her powerful and big salmon. Beat 1 is the most productive beat on the river holding 4 rods. In June the multi winter salmon is dominant in Blanda, nearly every single salmon caught has spent at least 2 years in the sea, often the average weight is in double digits in June. After a good day of fishing it is nice to come back to the Blanda lodge which is one of our finest lodges. It has all the comforts that anglers desire – two jacuzzi´s, a large sauna and a very comfortable living room.

Our new beat in Iceland , one of my all time favorite
SALMON
This is the beat , almost 6 km long for the last few years we are catching 200 to 300 salmon to the 3 rods , beautiful fly water , ideal for floating lines smaller flies and riffling hitch. Lodge is just perfect ... sitting right on the river bank overlooking the hot spots on the river. Lodge , one of the top lodges in Iceland , has Sauna and Jacussi , 3 twin bed rooms, large veranda overlooking the river. The river is completely wild , all natural spowned Salmon.
Here is info on the river: lax-a.net/sog-asgard.html
Here is pictures of the Lodge www.facebook.com/arni.baldursson.33#!/media/set/
TROUT
We do also have a trout section below the salmon section . the trout section is exclusive only for 3 rods , excellant large trout and Searun and native Arctic Charr , it could be a idea of taking all the 6 rods , 3 rods Salmon and 3 rods trout and fishing these two beats in a rotation , this will push the average price right down as the Trout rods is very unexpensive , info trout here lax-a.net/iceland/fishing-iceland/sog-asgardur-trout.html
If interested let me know , All the best , Arni arnibald@lax-a.is +354 8983601. Picture is from the dining room of the Asgardur lodge, your view from the veranda is overlooking some of the best pools on the river.

06 May 2013 Last Week
It was a trying week for anglers and Ghillies alike last week due to conditions they had to face. There was a fierce wind at the beginning of the week and a big rise in river levels on Saturday which made fishing difficult. It's also clear that the spring run so far this year has not been good for many anglers and Ghillies, especially in the upper beats.
