We just received word from Rafn Hafnfjörð an experienced angler who was fishing in Vididalsa from 5th - 8th of September. He his party got 27 salmon  inspite of much sunshine and 16 - 20 °C which is quite warm for Iceland in September. The temperature changed the last day and dropped to 5 - 8°C. He sent us this photo of him holding a 101cm male from Ármótahylur pool which he got on a Madalain nr.16 More...

Now some of our rivers have closed for the season and by the end of the month most of the salmon rivers have closed.  Still there are few that are open until late october such as West Rangá and Tungufljót rivers.

Season has all in all been very good in Iceland.  The lack of rain and the heat we have had has though been touch, specially after the mid summer.  The weather has been really strange this year.More...

I have waited nearly three years for an opportunity to fish once again on the waters where our great sport all began. And to do so on the wonderful River Dee is a real treat for sure.  I fished here in 2008 in September and managed nine fish for the week. I would have been totally satisfied with one fish here so I really was pleased with what turned into a fabulous week. . And that included no Grilse and a couple over 15 pounds. And a lost beauty I know would have knocked the socks off the 20 pound mark had I handed it. But it was not to be. Maybe this trip. The water has been a bit low for past week or so but the fishing remains very good.

After a tough start this morning things went upwards for us on the river.  We deceided that we were only fishing with big dry flies today and after a big zero in the morning session everything went the right way after our lunch break.  We had wine & cheese, soup, blt sandwitches, fruits, ooohh so much energy there to get you all fired up for the next try.  We managed to land 6 salmon today, biggest one was 18 lbs, other ranging 12-15 lbs, we lost 5, fantastic afternoon for us, thanks to the hard working guide, Mr Mario..Axelo              axelo@lax-a.is More...

The last two days have been really tough on the river in terms of fishing, we have had the sun shining the whole time, high temp and the fish just don´t want to move so we are just working our tan in good spirits. The fish who have been caught are all caught on Icelandic flies, such as Snaelda, Bl frances tubes and the hitch. We have landed 7 and lost 5, all fish ranging 5-12lbs..Axelo axelo@lax-a.is

Here is a little summary of  figures from our rivers this year. Like most people who follow the angling in Iceland we have had a great summer of fishing regardless of the dry season. But when the sun slowly begins to sit and the temperature decreases the rivers are full of life.More...

After the hard rain from the hurricane there was a nice rise of about 2 inch in the river, when we started fishing this morning and through out the day, waterlevel  was still rising, also the weather was changing, therefor most of the day was research on the pools.  I must have made about 10.685 cast today with the dryfly More...
