I had the good fortune of visiting the Lax-Á camp in South Greenland. It is absolutely out of this world and a paradise for every angler.
Just a around a 30 minute walk from the remote camp there is a river and lake absolutely packed with arctic char. I cough around 30 in two hours up to 8 pounds in size. The river mouth was absolutely packed with char and they were in the mood for taking a fly. I tried dry fly, nymph, nobblers and even hitch – all with success even though the nobbler was most lethal.
Later in the same day i tried my luck sea angling and caught 20 in one hour up to 18 pounds in size. Exhausted after the day i relaxed in the sauna before eating amazing dinner with ingredients from the surroundings – cod, Caribou and homemade bread.
I cannot recommend this trip highly enough , i will definitely be back. We are sold out in the camp for 2020 but will start booking 2021 soon.
Picture is of me with an 18 pound cod – admittedly not taken on fly 🙂
