Tungufljot river is perfect for those who choose first class fishing close to Reykjavik, beautiful surroundings and the freedom of self catering. 2–6 rods available.

Tungufljot is located only 100 km South East of Reykjavík. The river is in size slightly bigger than East and West Rangá, rated as a large river on Icelandic standard. The water is gin clear, offering endless pools for fly fishing with extraordinary scenery.

Last season, we had very interesting salmon runs in Tungufljot where fresh fish was running from the beginning of July until 20th of October which is fantastic and unique for Iceland to have such a long season. Taking the numbers of fish from the salmon counter at Faxi falls, we had 3800 salmon through the ladder; 2800 salmon were caught in total on 4 rods below the falls until 1st of August and another 4 rods above the falls after the 1st.Really amazing season!

As for accommodation, there are four comfortable self catering lodges, one for two rods. There are beds for 4 people in two rooms in each house, a comfortable living room with a TV and a radio, one bathroom and a full equipped kitchen. Jacuzzi on the veranda and a gas barbeque. The lodges are just few meters from the river bank, close to the waterfall Faxi, surrounded by the very beautiful nature.
