A flash back of great memories from Argentina Tierra Del Fuego Rio Grande.
For two decades in the passed I fished Rio Grande for 8 weeks every year , I was so fortunate to have the lease on the wonderful TOON KEN beat and the great new lodge just built when I was there, before the new lodge we used to stay at the old TOON KEN Farm House. What a wonderful times , when I was there Rio Grande was in full swing and we where catching 15 to 60 Seatrout each a week as big as up to 25 – 27 pounds, and I know it is still reasonable good. TOON KEN beat was so interesting as the pools are shallow and great for the dry fly and the skating hitches , Green Machine was deadly , so was the tiny up stream nymphs. During this time I fished all the beats on Rio Grande from Toon Ken all the way down to the estuary , and the tributaries such as the lovely Rio Menendez. Sometimes we took safaris to nearby rivers such as Irigoyen river and ather smaller streams. During these 20 years I fished my way all the way through Patagonia down through Bariloche to Rio Grande endelss beautiful landscapes and rivers like made of the gods for fly fishing , true pure wilderness , Rio Gallegos for over size Seatrout is on favorite list as well on the mainland , great river for delicate fishing for big fish , I had some great experience at Las Buitreras lodge with my great friend Krister Sjöberg , such a nice holidays and super nice lodge staff and food. Some times we went up north for couple of weeks chasing Golden Dorados in various rivers and lodges in the northern provinces , one time I remember we hired a small plane for our selfs for couple of weeks and we went all over the place visiting remote places landing here and there in farmers fields , these where the adventures these where the days. Since then the Atlantic Salmon have totally overtaken my brain , but still I am missing Argentina and it is in such a lovely season before the Salmon season takes over , I am missing all my friends down south and the guides and the staff , I think I should do it again to renew my friendship with the rivers and everyone , and as always I would like to stay for 8 weeks , so my Argentinian friends I am all open for 2026 plans !
