There will be a few changes to the structure and rules of fishing in East Ranga for 2020. The real big news is that the river will be fly only from July 1st to August 20th for the 18 rods. There will also be a modest quota of 4 grilse per rod per day, the big ones have to be released.
This should ensure better all around experience and better overall fishing results. Now there will be fewer salmon killed and more for the next angler to enjoy fighting.
The river will be sold in three day slots as a minimum so you can fish either three or six days. The fishing hours will be slightly changed to enhance the experience even further. Now you will fish from 8-13 and 15-20 or for 10 hours per day which should be plenty but you will get a better rest between sessions.
Fair rotation drawn for all 18 rods 9 / 6 / 3 / 8 / 5 / 2 / 7 / 4 / 1 / 9 / 6 / ……etc- so an even mix of upper, middle and lower river for everyone.
We believe those changes will ensure a better all around experience for our anglers in the East Ranga.
The East Ranga was top of the charts in salmon in 2019 but we believe next year could be even better.
We still have a few slots up for grabs.
