As the autumn closes in on Iceland with storms and heavy rains, river Stora Laxa gets in to prime gear. Stora Laxa is a strange river in the terms that it has two if not three main runs of salmon. She has the spring run of the big ones that usually travel fast to beat 4, then there are some runs in the summer but the main run comes with the first heavy rain late summer. The autumn run consist of the salmon that have waited in the larger glacial river Hvítá for conditions to be just right for them to enter the river of their birth.
After heavy rains in the past days that time is hopefully upon us as we await a feast in the Stora Laxa.
