River Tungulfjot runs quite close to the famous Geysir. The area is one of Iceland’s most visited sights and is part of what is called the Golden circle. If you want to there is a chance to fish a stunning river and check out the sights in your lunch break as well. That would be an angler’s dream day-trip.

River Tungufljot is a gin clear fresh water river, rather large by Icelandic standards. The river has been on the rise again after a few years below par. Last year over 300 salmon were caught river and we are predicting the four rod river to yield more than 500 in 2017.

The river is perfect for a daytrip from Reykjavik and you have the added bonus of checking out the major touristic sites as well.
