Now all the rivers in Iceland have officially closed. The Ranga rivers were the last to stay open but have now shut their banks for fishing.
The final numbers from the West River were 4032 salmon caught, which is not as good as last year but still a good result. That catch puts the West river most likely in the top spot overall in Iceland this summer. We are yet to get confirmed final numbers from the East river so she could still grab the top spot.
In the final weeks of the season we heard reports of anglers catching bright fish that had just entered the river which is a bit late by Icelandic standards, but a good surprise.
We still have a few days up for grabs next summer in the West Ranga in prime time!
