Sog Asgardur – Islands

The river Sog is well known amongst anglers for both the salmon fishing and the char fishing.  The Asgard beat at river Sog is one of the very best rivers in Iceland and  offers both very good fishing for native char, sea-run char, native brown trout, sea trout and Atlantic salmon during the summer months.

The char can weight anywhere from 4-14 pounds. The prime time for trout and char is in early spring (April – June) but good fishing all through the season until end of September.

It only takes about 45 minutes to drive to the river from Reykjavik, so it is ideal for short day-trips as well a longer tours. Guiding and all gear & tackle can easily be arranged upon request.

In the National Park just few minutes drive away from Asgardur beat on river Sog is the famous Lake Thingvallavatn. Here you will catch the biggest Brown Trout of the world ,  these amazing Brownies can be as large as 30 pounds and 10 to 20 pounds is common!

We would be happy to add on your Trout Safari a few shifts on Lake Thingvallavatn so you can experience how it is to fight these monsters!

By average we land over 800 Trout and Char on Asgardur beat river Sog  , most of them caught in the spring , April , May , June .. for the rest of the season there is plenty of them around but then anglers so busy chasing the Salmon.

The lodge is amazing and is located in the most perfect place right on the river ,  you can actually walk to most of the best places , the rest of the pools it only take you minutes by car.

Asgardur lodge is a lovely self catering cottage.  The lodge is very cozy and comfortable and well equipped with sauna and hot tub.  It has one double bedroom ensuite with shower and 3 twin bedrooms  all ensuite.

There is a large veranda on the riverside of the house with amazing views over the river and to the mountains around.
